About me.

I travel to all the places i’ve always wanted to visit but always had too much other stuff to do. While traveling I am making photos, blog, and make occasional Youtube videos.

Do I know what i’m doing now? No. – Do I know where i’m going next? No. – But i’m going to have a great time going there and doing it, wherever it ends up being.

I travel with a Fujifilm camera, my Macbook pro, and a backpack with about a week’s worth of clothes in it. I try to keep things as light as possible. I have two blogs, two Youtube channels, two Instagrams, and one Twitter account.

I try to travel as cheaply as I can but I sometimes treat myself. I like to stay in hostels or guesthouses over hotels. It’s better for meeting people and learning about the locations I visit. I’ve been able to keep traveling because of the vast amount of air miles I accumulated in my high stress job, and because I have a good amount of savings and no debt. I’ve sold most everything I own, and put the rest in storage.

Why Travel?

In 2014 I was completely fed up with the stress of normal life. Along with that a health problem was becoming more of a concern. I have a problem where my nerves are dying. The really long description of whats going on is “Chronic Ongoing Distal Axonal Degenerating Sensorimotor Polyneuropathy. This appears to be Cryptogenic…”.  It doesn’t really have a name but I guess I could use CODADSPC. Not a very nice acronym… The simple explanation is that my nerves are dying starting from my extremities, my feet, and working their way closer to my body. This causes my muscles to atrophy which causes cramping, twitching, and general body pain. They have no explanation why it’s happening to me, they have no treatment I can follow to make things get better. And the condition will continue to get worse with time.

My best course of action is as follows,

  1. Lower my stress levels – This is why I quit my job
  2. Do regular, low impact exercise. Lately this is Yoga because I can do that anywhere
  3. Eat healthy. Getting out of North America helps with this. India and Asia has much fresher food
  4. Drink less booze. Well I still drink occasionally, though lately i’m cutting back more.

Where are things at now?

My feet are mostly numb. The muscle twitching has moved into my upper legs, arms, and abdomen. The strength in my fingers is greatly reduced, though I still have most of my sensory nerves working in my hands. There is a very slight numbness starting in my thumbs.

Since August of 2017 the cramping has increased. It seems to get worse if I don’t get enough sleep.

I am generally in great spirits regardless of my physical symptoms. I’ve come to the realization that I may have a shorter life than most people. But then these symptoms may at some point stop progressing so I can still have somewhat of a good quality of life. I have no idea. In the meantime I plan to have as much happiness as I can. Probably something I should have started doing a long time ago.
