Fifth & Sixth week on the Road – Summary
I am changing the posting of my updates to once per month. The once per week schedule was nice at first, but now has become a bit unmanageable. I let things slip after my post in Dallas. Todays post will cover the last three weeks of travel around th US. I am also going to go over my adventures with Canadian Immigration.
The last 5 days have been pretty hectic and filled with hours of driving. I am going to make this post more of a photo album than anything else.
I found that Texas really is a big state and it took way too long to drive across. However it is also full of great scenery to photograph. One of the best parts of Texas was King Spa. I spent the whole night there and it was cheaper than a hotel!
Colorado Springs! Hanging out with Anna Faria
The Cylon regeneration ship located in Colorado Springs, CO. Actually its the Air Force Academy Chapel, but the resemblance is strong. From the inside the stain glass windows become prominent with their deep saturated colors.
Another great place to visit in Colorado Springs is the Garden of the Gods. I have no idea where the place got its name but it is yet another indication that the place is inhabited by Cylons.
In Boulder, CO I hung out with Ana. Actually Ana did the hanging, I just took photos. Check out Ana’s blog at Little Green Pixie.
Vegas is Vegas. It is so over the top that its hard to focus on anything. Brooke and I spent a fun evening walking around the downtown area and having a couple drinks.
In Los Angeles I stayed with Sam and Anna, and I also hung out with Rebeccah and Tom.
I learned a lot of things when I got to the Canadian border and Its a whole lot more complicated than I thought it would be. I feel kind of stupid for not looking into this prior to arriving at the border, but there are all kinds of things I need to know in order complete the next step in my plans.
The short story is that I had to leave my car in Bellingham and take a rental car across the border to Victoria. In order to qualify for Duty Waivers I need to cross the border with all my possessions at the same time. I am also going to have to itemize everything I am bringing back. This means I have to completely unpack everything then repack it and keep a specific list everything I plan to take back to Canada. On Monday I will call the Canadian border authority and get clarification on certain details for the move. These details will determine if I rent a moving van or not.
So the adventure has taken a turn I did not see coming due to me not doing my homework. Lesson learned.
One last item. The final item for this post is that with any luck it will automatically upload to my wall on Facebook. I have the plugin installed to my WordPress site but this is the first test to see if it works.
