The Road Trip is Starting!
Over the last few months I have had a lot of trouble sticking to my plans. Not because I was being lazy or careless. The events in my life were just changing so quick that I was not able to keep up. When I would observe a detail not working out I would try to change it only to have the new action derailed by another life event.
I now feel confident that my new plan is going to work. Part of the reason I feel this will work is that I am not setting anything in stone. I have learned that its good to have an overarching idea of what is to take place then let the specific details flow as the trip progresses.
In the first week of March I will get in my car and start driving east. This is the start of my US travels, and the first leg of my world travels.
The US part of my travels will take me around the country in roughly a clockwise direction. To see a map of my intended route please check out The Plan. I have marked some locations that I definitely want to visit. But there are also long stretches of driving that I will not want to complete in a single day. In the cases where I don’t have a friends place visit I will be using Airbnb.com and Couchsurfing.com to find places to sleep. This will also allow me to meet new people. I’m pretty excited about this part.
The decision to start my travels with the road trip has released a huge weight from me. I have felt more relaxed since I have made this decision than I have in a long time. Even though the last week has been full with the stress of moving I am now feeing optimistic about the road ahead. Just knowing that the start is within my grasp has changed everything.
Tomorrow is now set as my departure date. I am hoping to update this blog on a more frequent basis as I start down the road. The car is clean, packed, and I am ready to start.
